Oh dear. I'm soo allergic to cats this article nearly made me break out in hives. Especially the bit about Maggie climbing up your robe, that did actually make me shudder! But I echo Drunk Mummy, you've a long way to go yet until you have official cat lady status. Cat woman on the other hand, purrrrr! She could be quite sexy, maybe you're already there?

I confess (with some shame) to being a downtrodden woman who is NOT ALLOWED (yes, it's true) by my husband to make technical purchases. This is because he is uber-tech guru and MUST do ALL the research (and create a spreadsheet) and cross reference and mutter about gigabytes before he'll choose me a laptop. It makes my brain ache when he starts talking about ram, so this time I was resigned to it and said, 'fine. I just want it to be purple'. I also learnt the external hard drive lesson the hard (pun!) way when my laptop died at Christmas. Uber-tech wizz husband got it all back for me, but it scared me into backing up every few weeks. Definitely time to get a new camera, it's FAR more fun shopping for cameras, and they come in a range of colours ;-)

My son is surrounded by 3 sisters and me (and Dad at weekends and mornings). He is delightful; picks me flowers, is lovely with babies and small children. He loves animals and cuddles and tells me I'm the best Mummy and he loves me. He also tries to beat the shit out of his sisters when they annoy him and when he belches (which is often) the house shakes slightly on its foundations. You can't stop it, you just have to learn to love it!

Damn, you've rumbled me! Not Ritalin or crack, vodka and red bull... No inadequate feelings necessary, I have them all (why do you think I drive myself so hard?! ;-)

it's an online journalism diploma...for all that time I'll spend being a broadsheet editor when my kids are older (!)

Why has no-one made a career out of wine and dressing gowns? Such a missed opportunity... I agree that this issue is key for women, we are damned if we work, damned if we don't. And isn't there that greedy part of us that wants it all? To be around for our children after school, cook them a meal and chat to them, but to have interesting lucrative work between 9.30 am and 2pm? It does sound unobtainable when I put it like that, maybe I'll explore that wine and dressing gown idea further...

DrunkMummy speaks words of wisdom...but I must temper them with my own (slightly hysterical)words about studying and having young (ish) children. I am 3 months into a two year online course and whereas I love having something to focus on that is mine (all mine) and may make me more employable in the future, it's bloody stressful! My next 1000 word assignment is due midnight on Monday, my shoulders are up around my ears and my alarm is going off at 5am (to work before the storm hits at 7am). And here I am in perfect assignment-avoidance mode, posting a comment on PRG! I think you are right to tread cautiously, nothing says 'can't hack it' as much as jumping ship once you're back in employment. Why not wait until you can give it your all and your children are safely locked up in school from 9-3pm?! And in the meantime, enroll for a course and join me in my sea of stressed misery ;-)

You know Mya, I'm thinking those psychometric tests wouldn't be that taxing. Let's face it, if they'll pay for tit jobs because they like the Sheilas to have bonza boobs, how tricky are those tests really going to be? Aussie Naval officer: Strewth Mya, you reckon I might get to feel your new silicone knockers after we've been down with the great whites for 20 days or so, or would you be homesick by then? Mya: No sir, I would not be homesick, we'd have to see about the tit thing. Naval officer: That's fair dinkum, you're a real bonza Sheila, you're in!

You're allowed to smoke on a submarine? Really? And fireworks on July 14th, can they do that too? Sorry, got completely sidetracked there by the thought of enclosed space, smoke, fire, no rescue services...my girl-brain is also going into short-circuit. I suspect they are very easy to park Mya, you just push the 'down' button until you hit the bottom. Then the 'up' button takes you to the surface. Maybe they've kept women out for such a long time because we will explode the myth that submarines are hard to drive?

It sounds mental to me. I don't care if people are blogging with or without. Isn't it another of those blogging inventions? Next there'll be a round of, '10 Interesting Things I Experienced During My Day of Blogging Without Make-up.' (Please tag 10 other bloggers and make a saccharine - or strident - badge for them to display on their blog sidebar.) And as I still possess the peachy, clear skin of a 21 year old I have no idea what all the fuss is about. (and on the days I'm feeling less deluded there is always YSL's touche eclat...)
