The joys of bankruptcy law

by Toni (Thu Sep 02, 2010) I've seen lots of lawyer ads on TV recently to help people ‘alleviate' debt, either through personal bankruptcy or negotiations with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). WTF? I get that people fall on hard times, and may need to take measures to get their finances under control, but these ads are making their clients look like they've won the Lottery, and I don't find it funny.

This is especially painful when people have lived beyond their means, have had no medical tragedy, no job loss, and get to opt out of more than half their debt while continuing to live beyond their means. ( I personally know someone like this and find it infuriating) There's no deterrent from letting it happen again.Report Abuse
